Invoice Place - Easy Invoicing and Quotes

Whether your home business is centered on writing, web design or graphic design, it has one thing in common with every other business. Sooner or later, you’ll want to get paid.

While you could simply send out emails outlining what services you’ve provided and the total payment due for those services, it’s always more professional to submit an invoice for payment. There are quite a few services that exist to do specifically that, but today I want to look at one in particular: InvoicePlace.

The System

InvoicePlace has a very easy-to-use interface, allowing you to customize your invoice in whichever way you need. It tracks your previous customers, so invoicing a client in the future becomes even easier. It has an additional advantage over more traditional invoicing software since it stores your information on the InvoicePlace servers. This allows you to log into your account from any computer and work on the financial side of your business, since there is no software installed on your computer.

InvoicePlace also tracks what invoices you have due, the ones that are overdue (and could use a quick follow-up email), and the total revenue you’ve brought in. It also allows you to create invoice templates and save them, so that regularly-provided services are easier to invoice.

The Limitations

InvoicePlace is an excellent way to do just that…invoice. There are other services that provide a more complete accounting solution for your business (such as Quickbooks), but will cost a bit more, and require you to do your work on the computer where that software is installed. This is also a potential downside to the service, since your invoicing is unavailable if their servers are down.

However, if you’re simply looking for a way to submit professional invoices for the work you’ve done, InvoicePlace is a very well-rounded option.

The Price

In my opinion, this is where InvoicePlace shines. While many other invoicing and accounting software options require purchasing software or a monthly subscription fee, the cost of InvoicePlace grows as your business grows. They have a tiered subscription plan, starting with a free option. This option only allows three clients, five invoice templates and five products or services, but there are no other limitations…until you grow to four or more clients, you can use the full power of InvoicePlace free of charge. As you need the ability to invoice more clients, there are additional levels of membership, allowing you to invoice twenty clients for $12 USD per month, 100 clients for $20 USD per month, or 500 clients for $32 USD per month, which allows you to only pay for what you need as your business grows.

The Verdict

If you’re just getting your business started, InvoicePlace is a fantastic way to start out with professional invoices, and this can only help form the opinion in your clients’ minds that you are, in fact, a professional. With the ability to start free and then pay for what you need when you need it, it’s also a great system if you’re just starting that long road to success.

Thank you for the review Dave. Just to clarify invoicing is a central part of the system (hence the name Invoiceplace ) but you can also create quotes/proposals and track payments received (including partial payments and retainers).

Thanks again for the review - much appreciated!
